Summary

To provide an innovative and sustainable learning space for students to engage with nature and educate students on the benefits of fresh produce and fight malnourishment, JCI Cebu, with international sister chapters: JCI Sibu Malaysia, JCI Tanjung Aru Malaysia and JCI Sangju Korea came up with innovative solution called Project UGAT: Upgrading School’s Garden through Agricultural Trends. Project UGAT is about building Hydroponics System to beneficiary school: Science and Technology Education Center, a school for highly intellectual students in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu. Lapu-Lapu City however is an island where soil is not appropriate for farming. Project UGAT is an output during JCI Cebu’s Design Thinking Session when they visited JCI Sibu Malaysia for an official visit. Design Thinking is a process of ideating human centric and innovative solutions. Project UGAT is JCI Cebu’s answer to the challenge: Innovation is a must – today’s challenges won’t be solved by yesterday’s solution
