Pakig-UBAN
On June 16, 2024, a collective effort between JCI Cebu, Malaysia’s JCI Tanjung Aru, and Feed My Lambs Outreach, called Pakig-UBAN, was held at the Municipality of Pinamungajan, Cebu. This became a symbol of community concern and empowerment for the area’s 182 elderly residents. The seniors had hopes of bettering their lives as this program sought to achieve this by offering them various forms of support.
Inclusive medical aid, such as free medical check-ups, blood sugar and pressure tests, and donations of Vitamin B complex supplements, were provided. Apart from these, the beneficiaries were able to avail of free legal consultations, meals, and coffee grounds as plant fertilizers. They also attended educative talks on diabetes nutrition and urban gardening, which expanded their knowledge on how they can live in a healthy and sustainable way.
All in all, Pakig-UBAN was an example of harmonious collaboration, basing upon kindness as well as all-inclusive living within our aging society. By creating both domestic and international partnerships and at the same time banking on local organization members’ expertise, the objectives of this initiative align with the 5 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2, 3, 4, 13, and 17.
