CEBU CITY, PHILIPPINES – The country’s longest street art in A. Soriano Avenue has tantalized the eyes of Cebuanos as it unravels its true colors. Expertly crafted by the talented artists of the Creative Alliance of Multimedia and Visual Arts Students (CAMVAS) of Cebu Institute of Technology – University (CIT-U), the sprawling art is an initiative part of JCI Cebu’s Street Art District Project in partnership with Converge ICT Solutions.
This Cebu’s newest attraction is a starting point to making Cebu an art haven. It spans an entire sidewalk that puts Cebu on the map of street art destinations in the world. During the pandemic, it is meant to promote a face of hope during a rough journey that helps revive and turn brands into a destination, a trend, and a spotlight right at the heart of the Queen City of the South.
The project uses street art to boost business, revive local tourism, and help the nearby communities during the Pandemic. It is a collaborative project that has enlisted several members from partner organizations to protect and maintain the artworks with cleanup drives and regular roving for inspection. Among the partner organizations are Alpha Kappa Rho, Tau Gamma Phi, Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, and the National Police.
From merely a zero zone, it is now a culturally rich tourism destination that is vibrant, impactful, and instagrammable. But more than a Tourism project, it was also the biggest fundraising project of JCI Cebu chapter to support its mission of creating an impact on the local community. It is indeed the street of the future making Cebu brighter and more colorful.
