JCI Cebu, Inc. launches Project Berde Year 2, promoting sustainability with solar-powered hydroponics to boost food security and eco-friendly farming for lasting community impact.
To strengthen the project, Project Chair Jay Emanuel Alegarbes led a series of hydroponics farm visits across the country, gathering valuable insights and best practices. The visits began in Davao City from February 11 to 14, 2025, where local experts shared advanced hydroponic techniques. This was followed by an engagement in Malate, Manila, on February 17 and 18, where discussions focused on urban hydroponic farming innovations. On February 27 and 28, Alegarbes traveled to Baguio City to explore high-altitude hydroponics and sustainable agricultural models. The next scheduled visit will be in Guimaras from February 10 to 13, 2025, where the team aims to learn about island-based hydroponics systems and their potential applications.
Project Berde Year 2 emphasizes sustainable product innovation by developing eco-friendly agricultural solutions tailored to local needs. It also prioritizes education and engagement through workshops and awareness campaigns to promote environmental sustainability. Additionally, the initiative fosters collaboration with environmental organizations, strengthening efforts to implement sustainable practices.
With these efforts, JCI Cebu, Inc. through the Community Development department stays committed to environmental sustainability and community empowerment. The organization urges public support for Project Berde’s next phases, driving meaningful change toward a greener, more resilient future. Through ongoing initiatives, JCI Cebu fosters collective action, ensuring long-term impact and sustainability for communities in need.
