The 2nd Jaycees Cup was more than just a golf tournament; it was a celebration of purpose and impact. Held on May 30, 2025, the event united golfers, sponsors, and changemakers from Cebu and beyond to support persons with disabilities through inclusive education and livelihood initiatives.
Organized by JCI Cebu Inc., this year’s tournament continued the organization’s commitment to combining sports with service. The event partnered with the Department of Social Welfare and Development Area Vocational Rehabilitation Center II, or DSWD AVRC II, to help advance the training and development of persons with disabilities in Central Visayas. This meaningful collaboration aimed to empower individuals by enhancing their access to technology and learning tools.
A key objective of the initiative was to provide AVRC II with smart televisions and digital learning materials. These resources will help create a more engaging and inclusive learning environment for trainees, ensuring that persons with disabilities receive quality education tailored to their needs. More than just recipients of support, the beneficiaries actively participated in the event by offering free massages and cosmetology services, selling handmade crafts, and performing live music that added vibrance to the occasion.
The 2nd Jaycees Cup also stood as a testament to JCI Cebu’s alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those focused on good health and well-being, quality education, reduced inequalities, and building inclusive and sustainable communities. The event would not have been possible without the 2nd Jaycees Cup Working Committee, supported by the Organizational Development team, alongside dedicated sponsors, partners, and volunteers who made the vision a reality.
As the final putt dropped and the sun began to set, it was clear that the scorecards did not measure the true success of the tournament, but by the lives it uplifted and the hope it inspired.
