Baslayon: An Arts & Culture Movement for Cebuano Creatives

“How do we RISE if the very soul of our culture is left unseen?”

2020, a year of a global crisis that disrupted economies, muted creative voices, and demotivated spiritsBaslayon: An Arts & Culture Movement for Cebuano Creatives was born as a bold answer to JCI’s call to Rebuild, Invest, Sustain, and Evolve.

The project created global impact by training 247 individuals in creative skills, promoting 82 SMEs, delivering over $3,050 worth of services and products, and launching Cebu’s first-ever local creative industry directory, Hiniusang Banay. Baslayon turned the pandemic’s lessons into an opportunity in proving that when creativity thrives, communities RISE.

With mental wellness at its heart and sustainability as its compass, Baslayon demonstrated how JCI members can become enterprising leaders who build better, create global impact, and leave a legacy that blueprints economic metrics, igniting both commerce and culture to RISE, together.
