BALAMBAN, CEBU – JCI Cebu Inc planted about 1,000 giant bamboo propagules at Talisan Mountain Peak, Barangay Manunggal last June 8, 2022 with non-profit and government organizations.
Department of Environmental and Natural Resources (DENR), City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO), EAGLES and community volunteers were the partners for the project.
“Talinas Mountain Peak is a 300-hectare protected land, it will be JCI Cebu’s adopted land for tree planting as we partner with the local cooperative there,” says JCI Cebu Inc President, Jacques Ian David Estola.
“They have trail adventures that we can also camp out in the future. “
More than just the aesthetics of bamboo. It helps prevent soil erosion within the vicinity of Mount Talinas.
Bamboo reduces poverty and provides livelihood for local farmers. It increases economic opportunities for men and women, and to fight global unemployment.
JCI Cebu supports and takes action with the UNSDG Goal #13, climate action and UNSDG Goal #15, life on land.
