Cebu, Philippines – The holiday season, a time of hope and generosity, saw JCI Cebu, Inc. spreading joy through its “Hatag to Hudyaka: Share the Cheer” projects this December. The initiative brought smiles to over 500 children across three locations, demonstrating the power of community and small acts of kindness.

True to tradition, JCI Cebu integrated its December General Membership Meeting (GMM) with meaningful community service. This year’s events were a heartwarming blend of celebration and giving.

The first activity unfolded on December 14 at Our Lady of Sacred Heart Parish in Marigondon, Lapu-Lapu City. Over 170 children enjoyed a day of fun and learning, with performances by the Kids for Christ Choir, art and craft sessions, carnival games, and hygiene training led by 2025 VP for Community Development Johnel Luceño. BrightWheels, a mobile learning truck from JCI Mactan Reyna Bulakna, added an educational touch. Co-chaired by 2025 Director Aljon Malinis, the event showcased the spirit of service and camaraderie.

On December 18, the celebration reached Dumaguete City, where more than 70 children from Little Children of the Philippines participated in lively games, music, and the distribution of “Share the Cheer” gift bags. These bags, filled with educational materials, hygiene kits, and holiday treats, were a highlight of the event spearheaded by 2023 JCI Cebu President Marc Ng.

The finale of the initiative took place on December 21 in Consolacion, Cebu, through Project Hungit. This event concluded JCI Cebu’s feeding program with a “Hungitanay Cookoff,” a cooking competition celebrating local talent. Chaired by 2025 Director Andreu Padernal and Commissioners Jose Bonachita and Gyver Eguna, the activity combined nourishment with festive cheer. Gift bags were again distributed, ensuring every child left with a smile.

The success of “Hatag to Hudyaka” was made possible by the sponsorship from Accenture, InspireX Global, Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI), Big Hotel, and numerous private donors. Their support, along with the dedication of JCI Cebu’s Community Development team, brought lasting impact to the communities served.
