JCI Cebu made history during the 2026 Sinulog Festival with the successful launch of “Pick-it-tit!”, a pioneering initiative that combined BasuZero and Project HiV to promote environmental sustainability and public health during one of the country’s largest celebrations. The project transformed the festival into a platform for meaningful community action by encouraging responsible waste management and increasing awareness of important health issues.
Through the initiative, volunteers collected plastic bottles to support LibraWheels, turning recyclable waste into resources that help provide mobility assistance for individuals in need. At the same time, Project HiV brought health awareness directly to festival-goers, making education and advocacy more visible and accessible throughout the celebration.
Spearheaded by Aud. Nel Luceño, VP Jay Alegarbes, and SG Brandon Daryle Barreto, the initiative was made possible through the collaboration of dedicated partners, volunteers, and the public. By integrating sustainability, health advocacy, and civic action into Sinulog, JCI Cebu demonstrated how tradition and innovation can work together to create lasting positive impact for the community.
